NB: A knowledge of Swedish is a general eligibility requirement in Sweden for studies at post-secondary level.
This profile gives you a broad professional foundation for work as a performing musician. Special emphasis is laid on participation in various ensemble and interactive constellations and on the development of independent artistic creativity in improvisation, composition and arrangement.
At least half of the programme consists of obligatory studies of the main subject (main instrument or equivalent) and courses relating to the main instrument, e.g. ensemble playing at your own level or genre-deepening courses.
To these are added obligatory subsidiary subjects, such as music theory, music and society and media courses. The programme includes a 15 ECTS independent assignment in the main subject (a concert or a corresponding artistic performance together with written reflections on music in an artistic perspective).
Elective courses are also included. These can take the form of in-depth studies of the main subject or a broadening of your competence within the framework of available KMH courses. Workshops and seminars led by visiting teachers, both national and international, are organised regularly.
Studies include main instrument, jazz improvisation, ensemble playing, projects, piano, ear training, harmony, arrangement, music history, music production, and preparation for the labour market.
The programme ends with an independent assignment in the form of a concert or other music production.
