Performance – Church Music
This training program is aiming at a Bachelors exam in Music, 180 ECTS credits, iplying a normal study period of three years, with 30 credits per semester. The program is offered by the Department of Classical music.
The program will give you the skills to perform and conduct music at a high technical and artistic level, especially in the church music field. You also get good skills in teaching and ability to lead and organize music activities within the Swedish Church and other denominations.
At least 50 percent of the program consists of compulsory studies in the main topic (the main instrument or equivalent) and courses related to the main topic, such as ensemble playing at your own level or genre-depth courses.
In addition, there are different supportive topics. The training includes an independent project within the main subject of 15 credits, which can be a concert or similar artistic work and written reflections on music in an artistic perspective.
Courses in the main subject is:
• Liturgical organ
• Solistic organ
• Classical piano
• Choral conducting
• Diploma work
In addition, courses in supportive topics (harmony and counterpoint, Ear training, practical piano accompaniment, choral conducting and choir methodology, children and youth choir, liturgical singing and conducting, orchestral conducting, organ knowledge, music history with church music emphasis, pedagogy and methodology organ teaching methodology, vocal methods, media technology, church music seminars), and elective courses.
In addition to KMH's lesson and practice instruments you will have access to many of the exquisite organs in Stockholm churches. Workshops and seminars with visiting professors, both national and international, will regularly occur.
