The College is managed by the Vice-Chancellor, the Pro Vice-Chancellor and the Director of Administration.
The Vice-Chancellor is responsible for leading the college's activities. The Vice-Chancellor is a member of the College Board, and chair of the Disciplinary Board and the Staff Disciplinary Board.
The Vice-Chancellor is the college's highest academic and artistic representative. It includes responsibility for maintaining the artistic and scientific level as decided by the Board in the KMH strategy. KMH is a public authority, and the Vice-Chancellor is appointed by the government. As head of the authority, the Vice-Chancellor shall ensure that the activities are carried out in a constitutional and effective.
Helena Wessman was appointed as Vice-Chancellor of the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, KMH, 5 June 2019. Helena has a background as a professional trombonist, educated at KMH.
For almost 25 years, Helena has worked as a music administrator and leader in various positions in Swedish music scene, most recently as concert hall manager for the Berwaldhallen in Stockholm.
The Pro Vice-Chancellor is appointed by the College Board, and is deputy when the Vice-Chancellor cannot fulfil her duties. The Pro Vice-Chancellor also is tasked by the Vice-Chancellor to be responsible for a number of the fields of activity, including internationalization and external funding.
Johannes Landgren was appointed Pro Vice-Chancellor in September 2019. Since 2017, he is Visiting Professor of Organ at KMH, and professor of organ and organ improvisation at the Academy of Music and Drama, Gothenburg University.
Johannes Landgren is also active as a freelance organist and conductor. In addition, he is engaged in post-doctoral research at the Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts at the University of Gothenburg, where he has been in charge of doctoral studies and Pro Dean 2012-2018.
The Managing Director is responsible for the preparation and presentation of matters decided by the Vice-Chancellor and the College Board. The Managing Director decides on activities carried out within the College Administration and College Library, as well as matters relating to the buildings, furnishings and equipment.
The Director of Administration also provides strategic support to the Vice-Chancellor for KMH to fulfil the requirements as a public authority.
Peter Liljenstolpe took office as Managing Director at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm 2011. He is the head of the support organization at KMH, which consists of the College Administration and College Library.
Peter Liljenstolpe holds a Doctorate in Archeology from Uppsala University.
