At KMH you will meet classical music, folk music, jazz, rock / pop, electroacoustic – and everything in between. Composed and improvised. Traditional and newly created. Acoustic and amplified. Live and recorded. Everything at a high international level.
Music is important – as a way to express oneself, and a tool for creating, confirming and questioning identities and group belongings. Music is also an important business and export product.
Education and research at KMH involves passing on previous generation's professional experiences and traditions. It also includes reflecting, questioning, and creating conditions for completely new ways of communicating with music.
Mixing different vocal techniques and traditions is my "thing". I want to be even more free in my music. Vilja-Louise Skough Åborn, folk music student
