Balancing

Video Instant Composition

In everyday life, but also in the artistic process, especially in improvisation, I always experience a striving for balance between inner and outer processes. In a group improvisation, for example, I have to let my focus constantly shift back and forth between my inner movement and what is happening in the group, so that I can then spontaneously react in a “coherent” way. I observe this as an inner balancing between surrendering and conscious decision-making. So on the one hand I am intuitive and let myself move/sound, follow what wants to express itself out of my innermost at that moment. On the other hand, I perceive what I and others are doing and guide my actions through conscious decisions. So I balance with my perception between the inner and the outer, striving to constantly rebalance my thinking, feeling and acting in relation to my environment.
