Examenskonsert Markus Yiangou

A journey between light and dark.

Rossen Balkanski’s works have a unique and personal blend of Bulgarian folklore combined with western classical structures and techniques. 
In the words of Gerhard Reichenbach, Balkanski possesses a special and rare ability of giving musical form and shape to very wide-ranging contextual realms. 
Balkanski has remained in his native country of Bulgaria, undisturbed and almost seemingly unnoticed in the international music scene to develop his ingenious and unique compositional style.


In his exam concert, Markus Yiangou wants to embark the audience on a journey of light and dark, ambition, intimacy, anger and inner turmoil, loss and denial before arriving to peace and acceptance. 


Furthermore, Markus aims to shed light again to a forgotten masterpiece in the classical guitar and music literature.
