Entrance Tests for CoPeCo

When you apply to this program, you need to take an entrance exam. Here is everything you need to know to complete the tests as well as a description of how the tests are assessed.

Test 1 – Artistic portfolio

The first test is a digital selection that determines which applicants will get to take the next test. In Test 1, you submit your degree project proposal, an artistic portfolio as well as a letter confirming your authorship, your CV, and a motivation letter.

Degree Project Proposal

A detailed description of the Master’s Degree Project (Independent Project) the applicant wishes to undertake. This proposal is a crucial element in the application and should relate to key features of the study programme – collaboration, cross-disciplinary interaction, new technologies, and improvisation.

Artistic portfolio

The applicant must declare which category they are applying for: Composer, Performer or Composer/Performer.

  • Composers: A portfolio of compositions with scores (or recordings where scores are not applicable) of at least 3 contrasting original compositions with a combined duration of at least 15 minutes. If there are any texts accompanying the scores (e.g., introduction, context notes, or comments for performers), please provide an English translation.
  • Performers: A portfolio of recordings containing at least 2 contrasting excerpts with a combined duration of at least 15 minutes. Titles and authors of works should be listed in the order they appear on the recording.
  • Composer/Performers: A portfolio containing at least 1 original composition (with score), 1 recording of a performance, and 1 additional work of your choice, totaling at least 15 minutes. Any accompanying texts should be translated into English.

Accepted file formats: pdf, mp3, mp4.

Supporting Documents

  • Signed commitment letter confirming the authorship of the recordings and compositions.
  • CV detailing artistic and professional experience, including a photo.
  • Motivation letter outlining the applicant’s goals and aims regarding the programme.

After the application deadline has passed, applicants who have submitted their application at universityadmissions.se External link. will receive instructions via email on how to upload their test to KMH. You are therefore encouraged to prepare Test 1 in advance, before receiving the email.

Assessments: The test is qualifying, and the result is evaluated on a pass (1) or fail (0) basis. This test is also the basis of the scoring for the selection in Test 2 – Audition.

You will receive your results via e-mail. All submitted documents are evaluated by a jury at the institution where the applicant applies. Passing applicants will proceed to Test 2.

Test 2 – Auditions

This test is administered digitally through Zoom where you will meet the jury.

The audition consists of

  • Your presentation of your work (10 minutes maximum): instrumental or vocal performance of a contemporary music programme of your choice (including your own pieces) and/or a presentation of the material you sent in your portfolio (depending on whether you applied as a performer, composer or both).
  • A controlled improvisation (6 minutes maximum), where you improvise with regard to instructions provided at the time of the audition.
  • An interview where you will be asked to discuss your proposal for the Masters Degree Project (Independent Project).

Please note that the audition may be recorded for evaluation by an international jury. No accompaniment will be provided by the school.

Test time: 30 minutes
Assessments: The test is qualifying and the basis for selection. Scores are 0-50 points, with 25 points minimum required for qualifying. Test 1 is also the basis for the selection assessment of Test 2. The following criteria will be assessed:
