ENGLISH:
COPE collective presents Rörelse at KMH: a dynamic concert blending composition, improvisation, and interdisciplinary performance. Featuring eight international musicians, the program explores the relationship between sound, space, and movement through works that merge music with physical expression and spatial design. From intimate solo explorations to immersive ensemble pieces, the concert invites audiences to experience sound in motion.
Consisting of an international cast of eight musicians with backgrounds ranging from classical to underground, acoustic to electronic, the COPE Collective was formed by the 2025 Contemporary Performance and Composition class as a vehicle for their shared musical endeavors. The group emphasizes originality and experimentation, blending improvised and composed performances. Each member contributes their own expertise while venturing into new and challenging sonic territories.
In Rörelse, original compositions center around the relationship between sound and space, movement and image. Featuring interdisciplinary performances and a full ensemble piece, this concert asks the question: how can we move the sound?
X(2) by Xu Dong explores the relationship between physical movement and spatial perception through the flute, structuring the work around five symbolic stage positions linked by intersecting movement paths.
In How to Climb a Piano and Free Solo, Martina Copello and Kristýna Švihálková develop interdisciplinary compositions that integrate the performers’ embodied expertise into the fabric of the work, probing the physical limits and latent possibilities of their instruments while dissolving boundaries between movement, music, dance and climbing.
In Ultima, Kenn-Eerik Kannike examines the spatial propagation of sound textures, articulating their movement across the 29-channel dome of Lilla salen.
Finally, in Three etudes on the fire amoeba (Alberto Piazza), the full roster will coalesce into an ensemble to perform in conversation with the audience's interventions.
