WTF // COPE collective

ENGLISH:
Consisting of an international cast of eight musicians with backgrounds ranging from classical to underground, acoustic to electronic, the COPE Collective was formed by the 2025 Contemporary Performance and Composition class as a vehicle for their shared musical endeavors. The group emphasizes originality and experimentation, blending improvised and composed performances. Each member contributes their own expertise while venturing into new and challenging sonic territories. This last CoPeCo concert at KHM will feature six members of the collective in a program combining original compositions, contemporary repertoire, and free improvisation.

This concert is about music... WTF??!

Program:

In How to Climb a Piano, Martina Copello blurs the roles of pianist and dancer, negotiating between discipline and disruption in dialogue with Pierre Boulez’s 12 Notations. At center stage, the piano appears not as an instrument but as a piece of furniture: an object to resist and inhabit.

Composition, piano and dance: Martina Copello

Electronics: Giovanni Montiani

Anima. If we rubbed an object with the right tool, would its soul rise to the surface?

Contact microphone: Mattia Giustetto

Boolean Spit Study is an experiment on performing, listening, and enjoying (or not) at frail dimensions. The moment is built on live drawing and the sounds of what once was a flute, now a conduit for the vibrations of spit and skin.

Composition and performance: Hugo Coelho

Metamorphosis #2 explores sound as a body in continuous transformation: fragmented, re-formed, and at its limits pushed to the point of oscillation, where identity dissolves while traces of its past remain. The work moves between fixed and fluid states, as live, solo improvisation unfolds within a structured frame, placing both sound and performer inside an unstable process where transformation is gradual, irreversible, and never fully resolved.

Granular synthesis and composition: Kenn-Eerik Kannike

WHAT THE FUCK!!? numb. a little cold. from the inside. ungraspable thoughts coming and going, coming and going. this fucking dude all over the media again. aaah, i’m so selfish, so selfish. head spinning. pain. in which world do we want to live? in which one are we actually living? question of the day. hmm, soft warm bread. need to see her as long as she’s still there. small stabbing pain in the back of my head. no. perhaps. tomorrow i’ll do this! really? hungry. inhale slowly. exhale. nothing left. please, can you? come on, just… so sad. fuck, i forgot. again. again. because. too much? me?

Performance and voice: Emelia Schwieler

Piano: Martina Copello

Percussion: Kristýna Švihálková

Composition and electronics: Mara Hebel

There will be a 20 min interval in the middle of the concert.
