Innovation Office’s Idea Support
Do you have an idea, method or result from your research, education or artistic practice that you’d like to develop further?
Through the Innovation Office, you can receive support to explore new areas of application, reach new target groups and investigate how your knowledge or idea can be applied outside the environment in which it originated.
As a student, teacher, researcher or staff member at KMH, Konstfack, SKH or KKH, you can receive idea support and help with applying for funding to test and develop your idea.
Get support to develop your idea
You do not need to have a fully formed plan to contact the idea support service. Together, we will explore what needs your idea addresses, which target groups or partners might be relevant, and what steps are needed to develop it further.
If the idea is ready to be tested, you can receive support in applying for funding for external initiatives that will give you a better understanding of the needs, usage and interest in the idea.
Through funding from Vinnova, the Innovation Office can offer support to test and validate ideas together with users, target groups, customers, the public or other potential beneficiaries.
Who can apply?
The idea support scheme is available to students, researchers and staff at KMH, SKH, Konstfack and KKH, and applications can be submitted at any time throughout the year.
This idea support is for you if:
- wish to explore how your idea, method or knowledge can be used or applied outside the educational or research environment,
- are curious to explore new areas of application, audiences or contexts for your idea,
- have the time and opportunity to take the work on the idea forward.
- have the right to use and develop the idea.
This is how the idea support process works
- Contact the Idea Support team
You do not need to have a finished plan to contact the idea support team. Together with the Innovation Office’s idea support team, you can discuss your idea and what is needed to develop it further. You can book a meeting with the idea support team using the form below. Briefly describe your idea and what you would like help with.
- First meeting
An innovation idea advisor will get in touch with you and book an initial meeting. You’ll meet to discuss your idea, possible applications and which questions you’d like to explore further. Together, you’ll decide on the next steps to take your idea forward.
- Explore and plan
Together with the idea support team, you’ll identify the needs your idea can address and the questions that need to be investigated to explore its potential. Between meetings, you’ll continue to work on developing the idea yourself. The idea support team acts as a sounding board and supports you in planning the next steps and identifying the activities needed to develop the idea further.
- Application for VFT funding
If you conclude that external expertise is needed to test your hypotheses and assumptions, the Innovation Office can help you prepare a straightforward application for funding from the Vinnova VFT programme. VFT funding can be used for external costs linked to, for example, user testing, prototype development, market analyses or advice on intellectual property rights.
- Testing and verification
If the application for VFT funding is approved by the assessment panel, the planned activity must be carried out. You are responsible for liaising with the organisation carrying out the activity and for providing the necessary information. The Idea Support team will assist with administrative matters such as orders and contracts.
- Next steps
Once the activities have been carried out, the results are evaluated. You can then receive support on how to take your idea forward. The Innovation Office can assist you in identifying further funding, partnerships or other ways forward.

About the Innovation Office’s Idea Support
The Innovation Office for the arts universities in Stockholm will offer support to students, teachers, researchers and staff at KMH, Stockholm University of the Arts (SKH), Konstfack and the Royal Institute of Art (KKH).
The Innovation Office aims to strengthen collaboration and innovation in the arts and build bridges between academia, the cultural sector, industry and society. Its activities will offer support for idea development and serve as a centre of excellence for innovation in the arts. In the long term, the Innovation Office will also be able to provide support for research funding.
In autumn 2026, the first part of the initiative will launch: the idea support programme.
