Jubilee Doctoral Students
Between 2025 and 2029, the Royal College of Music in Stockholm will participate in a national initiative by the Knowledge Foundation’s, marking the foundation’s 30th anniversary. The initiative encompasses practice-based research across 22 higher education institutions and will provide KMH with two new doctoral positions in music education. The projects build on research in practice-based music pedagogy and aim to develop new knowledge in close collaboration with music education practice.

The two PhD projects develop new knowledge in close collaboration with music education practice.
- Jonatan Lindner’s PhD project focuses on how music education can be designed to promote participation and learning for pupils with neurodevelopmental conditions, in collaboration with schools and municipal music schools.
- Sofia Nygren’s PhD project explores what music pedagogical expertise means in today’s municipal music schools, and how experienced music teachers’ knowledge – both explicit and tacit – is formed and used in teaching practice.
Together, the PhD projects strengthen KMH’s research in practice-based music education and contribute to the development of future music education
