Professors

Professor is the highest academic career level at Swedish universities and means that the person is expected to take overall responsibility within their subject area. Here, some professors at KMH are presented with a description of their research and background. More researchers will be presented here shortly.

Professor of Music Pedagogy

Erkki Huovinen conducts research in a broad and interdisciplinary field that, among other things, combines aspects of musical knowledge formation, creativity, music theory and improvisation.

Eva Bojner Horwitz conducts research in a broad and interdisciplinary field that, among other things, combines social medicine, music psychology and health science with a focus on social sustainability in school and healthcare systems.

Henrik Frisk is employed as a professor of digital sound art at KMH and conducts research in music with a focus on composition and artistic practice.

Professor of Orchestral Conducting

Cecilia Rydinger’s research focuses on choral conducting and choral leadership, with a particular emphasis on the artistic and pedagogical legacy of Professor Eric Ericson.

Klas Nevrin is a musician, composer, and lecturer at KMH. He teaches improvisation, creative listening, and artistic research.

David Thyrén

Senior Lecturer in Music and Society
David Thyrén conducts interdisciplinary research on the historical contexts of music and social sustainability in higher music education.

Postdocs

As a first career step after a doctorate, there is the opportunity to condudt research as a postdoc. Currently, KMH has an international postdoc funded by the Swedish Research Council. A postdoc appointment is a time-limited qualifying appointment with a main focus on research as a first career step after the doctoral dissertation. KMH has received co-financing from the Swedish Research Council for our first international postdoc. KMH is working to be able to offer more opportunities for employment as a postdoc.

Kaja Korošec

Postdoc
Kaja Korošec's thesis project was about developing a music-based intervention that aims to increase quality of life, subjective well-being and self-compassion, and reduce anxiety about social interaction in adults with autism.

Affiliated researchers

Affiliation means that KMH can associate researchers from other universities and colleges. These can also be researchers from the business community. KMH want to increase research exchange both nationally and internationally.
