Programme Content

In the vocal profile, you will deepen your knowledge in choral conducting, ensemble conducting and song as well as user-oriented instrument training, such as score play.

Studies in choral conducting and vocals are tailored to your individual level, experience and needs, but follow two tracks: own study work with individual tutoring and repertoire studies. The repertoire studies are characterised by stylistic versatility, historical dissemination, knowledge of performance practice/ aesthetics, and familiarity with both traditional compositional forms and contemporary notation and form-thinking.

As a preparation for a professional career as a church musician, the programme also gives you knowledge of the music industry's conditions, mental training and stage preparation.

The course Degree Project on 30 credits provides an opportunity for you to focus on and document the artistic process through independent work. The presentation can be done in several forms: through written work, audiovisual documentation and/or digital media. You can also choose a research preparation track.

In addition to KMH's lesson and exercise instruments, you will have access to many of the prominent organs in Stockholm's churches.

After the Programme

Earlier students work as church musicians in the different denominations of the country. The Swedish Church is one of the largest employers of freelance musicians in the classical field and one of the largest concert organisers in the country. And a varied work life awaits with plenty of room for your own musical initiatives.

The program also prepares for further studies at the artistic research level.
