Composition – Western Art Music
Study the Bachelor's Programme in Composition with a focus on Western music at Sweden's largest center for composition studies.
KMH has for a long time educated successful composers, operating both nationally and internationally. With brand new premises in the heart of Stockholm, specially designed for music, we are the country's largest center for composition studies. Here you meet skilled teachers and lots of music students.
Regular concerts with both vocal and instrumental music give you many opportunities to get your music performed. This is done through collaborations with established ensembles, choirs, orchestras and big bands.
Programme Content
With a focus on Western music, you will immerse yourself in musical form, but you will also gain insight into the other areas of composition through various projects, elective courses and collaborations.
The studies include composition, harmony, ear training, instrumentation, notation, form, aesthetics, music history, acoustics and practical playing and/or singing.
The Western Art Music profile also includes counterpoint/harmony and instrumentation in various styles, plus general courses of electro-acoustic music.
Admissions

When a programme or course is open for application, it is presented on universityadmissions.se. After submitting your application you will, in most cases, be called to an entrance examination.
