KMH has for a long time educated successful composers, operating both nationally and internationally. With brand new premises in the heart of Stockholm, specially designed for music, we are the country's largest center for composition studies. Here you meet skilled teachers and lots of music students. 

Regular concerts with both vocal and instrumental music give you many opportunities to get your music performed. This is done through collaborations with established ensembles, choirs, orchestras and big bands.

Please note that a good knowledge of the Swedish language is required for this programme.

Programme Content

With a focus on Western music, you will immerse yourself in musical form, but you will also gain insight into the other areas of composition through various projects, elective courses and collaborations.

The studies include composition, harmony, ear training, instrumentation, notation, form, aesthetics, music history, acoustics and practical playing and/or singing.

The Western Art Music profile also includes counterpoint/harmony and instrumentation in various styles, plus general courses of electro-acoustic music.
