Conducting – Choir
Join and lead one of Sweden's biggest movements - choir singing. The Bachelor's Programme in Choir Conducting gives you a solid foundation to work in national and international music life as a choral conductor.
The interest in choir singing and the need for well-trained choral conductors is great – 600,000 are singing in choirs in Sweden alone.
The programme in conducting is given with two profiles: choir and orchestra. You choose one of these but may study some courses with students in the other profile.
Please note that a strong proficiency in the Swedish language is a general entry requirement for first-cycle studies, but exemptions for this programme can be made.
Programme Content
Studies include supervised conducting of choir/orchestra/big band, seminars and an independent assignment. Subsidiary subjects are: ear training, form analysis, instrumentation, score playing, harmony and counterpoint, plus elective courses.
The studies are intended to develop your artistic and technical ability, to give you a good knowledge of repertoire and to deepen your artistic insight.
