  • Develop artistically through hands-on projects, both independently and in collaboration with other students, with support from experienced teachers and guest lecturers from the industry.
  • Work in studios equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.

The programme is open to everyone, regardless of genre. Over the course of three years, you will develop your ability to write, arrange and produce music for different genres, film, interactive media and games, audiovisual live performances, and more. The programme requires basic knowledge of music and music production, as well as an interest in producing music for different media forms.

The programme provides you with strong professional skills and broad artistic competence in both music and music production for a range of media. It prepares you well for a professional life that you also help to shape yourself.

The courses approach music and music production from a broad perspective. With some of the country’s leading teachers, industry-based guest lecturers, and a school filled with the musicians and music creators of the future, you are given excellent opportunities to develop creatively and artistically.

In several courses, work is carried out in project form together with your fellow students, each of whom brings their own unique skills and specialisms. This collaboration creates a highly dynamic learning environment in which you, as a student, develop your knowledge and competence in music production across different genres and musical contexts.

The programme also includes work with image and video production, film music, music videos, interactive media and audiovisual installations. You will develop your musical ideas, your artistic profile and identity, as well as your knowledge and skills in leading others and being led yourself, as you carry out and participate in a wide range of production projects of varying scope and scale.

KMH’s excellent facilities, first-class studios and well-equipped production rooms also make a strong contribution to providing the best possible conditions for development during your studies.

Programme content

The courses cover areas such as sound and studio technology, film and film music, recording techniques for different ensembles, interactive media and adaptive music. Many of the programme’s courses focus on musical craft in the form of composition and arranging. You will also take courses that provide a solid foundation in music theory and music history, enabling you to create and produce music for a variety of contexts and environments. The third and final year offers significant opportunities to strengthen your own profile and specialisation.

30 credits, ECTS, of the programme are reserved for elective courses, corresponding to one full term of study. Within these, you can deepen and tailor your studies entirely according to your own interests. In this way, you gain a broad knowledge base with extensive opportunities to develop artistically in the direction of your choosing.

Courses in entrepreneurship prepare you for your future professional life. There are also opportunities for students to take part in industry-related collaborative projects, for example with organisations, museums, companies, schools and practising specialists.

The programme concludes with an independent artistic project worth 15 credits, ECTS. The knowledge and skills you have developed during the programme are tested in a final, substantial artistic project. In this programme, the independent project often consists of a larger artistic production accompanied by written documentation and reflections on music and music production from an artistic perspective.
