Design thinking originates in design but can apply across several disciplines. It is a powerful tool for developing strategic cross-disciplinary or entrepreneurial initiatives. The course allows you to connect your musical knowledge with another subject.

Humans have a natural ability for design thinking as it originates on the associative and improvisational logic of play, unlike other more restrictive problem-solving methods. Design thinking is a powerful tool for developing strategic cross-disciplinary or entrepreneurial initiatives.

The course is given at the School of Economics (Handelshögskolan) once a year and is part of the range of courses offered at the Stockholm School of Entrepreneurship (SSES) External link.. Students from KMH, Karolinska Institutet, Konstfack, Stockholm University, KTH and the School of Economics can apply. The mix of students from different colleges and universities makes SSES a hub for cross-disciplinary meetings. You get unique opportunities to expand your network and create new contacts.

Eligibility and selection

General entry requirements for second-cycle studies are required. If there are more qualified applicants than there are places, a selection must take place. That selection is based on the number of completed higher education credits (HPAV).

Content

After mastering the fundamentals of design thinking, you will explore how to develop established techniques through other design disciplines; plotting, characterization, visualization, role-playing, storyboarding and prototyping. For those who strive for validity and innovation over tradition and repetition, the course will give you the knowledge and skills to achieve such goals.

The course combines lectures with seminar discussions, workshops, group work and individual presentations by the students and representatives in the field.
