Design thinking has its origins in design, but can be applied across a wide range of disciplines.
Humans have a natural ability for design thinking as it is based on the associative and improvisational logic of play, unlike some other more restrictive problem solving methods. It is a powerful tool for developing strategic cross-disciplinary or entrepreneurial initiatives.
For those who strive for validity and innovation over tradition and repetition, the course will provide the knowledge and skills to achieve such goals. After acquiring the basics of design thinking, students get to explore how to develop established techniques through other creative and design disciplines such as plotting, characterization, visualization, role-playing, storyboarding and prototyping.
The course combines lectures with seminar discussions, workshops, group and individual presentations by the students as well as by representatives in the field.
The course is given by Stockholm School of Economics once a year. Teaching language is English.
